A knock echoes on the cabin door, deep in the wintry woods of Minnesota.

Dr. Alder is driving down the lonely boreal roads after a long ER shift, his old Civic rattling under the weight of fatigue. Suddenly, his eyes snap open—he slams the brakes as a massive bull elk blocks the road, its head unnaturally tilted, jaws agape. Above, Comet Goodwin—the closest comet to Earth in recorded history—blazes across the sky, its jagged, fiery tail casting an eerie green glow over the frozen landscape.

A blinding white flash explodes around him. Glass shatters inward. The elk vanishes.
If Alder can just get the car started and reach his secluded cabin, maybe he can make sense of the impossible. But first, he must survive the frozen silence of the night—and the unspeakable evil that hunts within it.
