OBLIVION’S CLOAK by Dylan McFadyen

First Lieutenant Shaara died this morning. Her captain is livid—she wasted resources getting herself killed, and now he’s docking her pay.

But Shaara’s not dead anymore. She’s sitting across from Adnan, the first human she’s seen in six years. He says he’s from Earth. That’s impossible. Earth died centuries ago. If he’s telling the truth, both he and his decaying ship are nearly a thousand years old.

Now he’s her responsibility—whether she likes it or not. If she refuses, the captain will sell him into slavery. Shaara knows exactly what that means. Most humans do. But something in Adnan’s eyes wakes a part of her she thought was long dead.

Facing the past won’t be easy. Ignoring it would be. Letting it all fall apart and going back to sleep would be easier still.

But when a mysterious faction begins stirring up war, everything changes. They’re hunting Adnan, and they plan to use him to unleash a brutal revenge on the galaxy. No one knows who they are—except Shaara. She remembers them all too well.

She might be the only one who can stop them.

The real question is—does she want to?

Maybe the galaxy deserves what’s coming.
