LEGACY OF MAN by David Lingard

Twelve-year-old Charlie was just another orphan, passed around by foster homes and institutions that didn’t want to deal with him. His parents had died in a car crash when he was three, leaving him angry and closed off from the world.

A dangerous brain tumor changed everything. After surgery, Charlie was left paralyzed from the neck down. But in the midst of this new reality, something unexpected happened—he found love and stability with the Browns, a foster family who cared for him without hesitation. For the first time, Charlie felt like he belonged.

When offered the chance to undergo experimental treatment, Charlie eagerly accepted. He wanted to regain his independence and lift the burden from the Browns. But the treatment came with a twist—he was secretly transported to another planet and enrolled in a new branch of Earth’s military: the Space Corps.

Training as a cadet in a wheelchair was tough. The others didn’t make it easy. But Charlie found friendship in Laura and Mauro, and together they pushed through the challenges. As part of the GAP (Generic Advancement) Program, Charlie began to change in ways he never thought possible.

The program gave him more than just mobility. It reshaped his body and his future. But those physical gains came at a price. Soon, Charlie found himself in the middle of a growing conflict—one that threatened not only his life, but also his friends, Earth, and all of humanity.
