This week we had the pleasure in interviewing Lenny Lee who writes Children’s Books. We thank her for her time and wish her best of luck with Vampire Girl. Here is the full interview.
Q: What inspired you to write “Vampire Girl”?
A: The inspiration for “Vampire Girl” came from a combination of my love for supernatural stories and my interest in exploring themes of friendship and acceptance. I wanted to create a story that would resonate with young readers and encourage them to look beyond the surface and understand others’ situations and challenges.
Q: Can you tell us a bit about the main characters, Natalie and Amethyst?
A: Natalie Silks is a twelve-year-old girl who is kind-hearted, brave, and loyal. She loves school and spending time with her friends and family. Amethyst, on the other hand, is a young vampire who has been banished from the city for hundreds of years. She’s misunderstood and struggling to find a place where she belongs. Their friendship is central to the story, and through their adventures, they learn a lot about trust, loyalty, and understanding.
Q: What message do you hope young readers will take away from “Vampire Girl”?
A: I hope young readers will take away the message that it’s important not to judge others based on preconceived notions or appearances. Natalie and Amethyst’s journey shows that understanding and empathy can bridge even the widest of gaps. It’s a story about determination, strength, and the power of true friendship.
Q: How did you come up with the idea of integrating a vampire into a children’s story?
A: Integrating a vampire into a children’s story was a fun challenge. I wanted to bring a fresh twist to the traditional vampire narrative, making it accessible and engaging for younger readers. By presenting Amethyst as a misunderstood character who needs help, I aimed to create a dynamic and exciting story that also conveys important lessons.
Q: What was the biggest challenge you faced while writing “Vampire Girl”?
A: The biggest challenge was balancing the darker elements of a vampire story with the light-hearted, adventurous spirit suitable for children. I wanted to ensure that the story remained exciting and slightly mysterious without becoming too frightening for young readers. Finding that balance was key to making “Vampire Girl” an enjoyable read.
Q: Do you have any advice for young aspiring writers?
A: My advice for young aspiring writers is to write what you love and stay true to your unique voice. Don’t be afraid to explore different genres and themes. Writing is a journey, and every story you write helps you grow and develop your skills. Most importantly, have fun with it and let your imagination run wild!
Q: Are there any future projects you are working on that you can share with us?
A: Yes, I’m currently working on a sequel to “Vampire Girl” that will continue the adventures of Natalie and Amethyst. I’m also exploring a new series that delves into other supernatural creatures and their interactions with humans. It’s an exciting time, and I can’t wait to share more stories with my readers.
Q: Where can readers find more information about you and your book?
A: Readers can find more information about “Vampire Girl” and my other works on my website, and I’m also active on social media platforms where I share updates, behind-the-scenes insights, and interact with my readers. Thank you for your support!
