Thank you for joining us, everybody. Today we’ll be interviewing Kran Sanon, the author of All of the Stars.

Interviewer: Hello Kran Sanon, thank you for joining us today! Firstly, congratulations on your latest book, “All of the Stars.” Can you share with us what inspired you to write this book?

Kran Sanon: Thank you, it’s my pleasure to be here. The inspiration for “All of the Stars” was actually a culmination of things. I’ve always been fascinated with the world of sports, and I wanted to shine a light on the potential of a woman in a traditionally male-dominated field. The characters of Jaimie and Ishaani came to life as a way of exploring these themes.

Interviewer: Can you tell us more about your characters, Jaimie and Ishaani? What was the most challenging aspect of creating them?

Kran Sanon: Both Jaimie and Ishaani are characters close to my heart. Jaimie, the successful coach, is at a point in his life where he’s reflecting on what success truly means, especially in the absence of someone to share it with. Ishaani, on the other hand, is a young woman determined to break barriers, even in the face of constant rejections. The most challenging aspect was ensuring that their struggles felt genuine and relatable to readers.

Interviewer: Your book explores the theme of love against the backdrop of professional sports, a field not typically associated with romance. How did you balance these contrasting elements?

Kran Sanon: That’s a great question. I believe that love and sports aren’t necessarily contrasting elements. Both are about passion, teamwork, and, sometimes, dealing with disappointment. It was important to me to show these parallels and how they influence the relationship between Jaimie and Ishaani.

Interviewer: “All of the Stars” also tackles the theme of gender inequality in sports. What do you hope your readers take away from this aspect of the story?

Kran Sanon: I hope to highlight the struggles and resilience of women like Ishaani, who are attempting to break into male-dominated fields. My aim was to not just address the issues, but also encourage dialogue around them and inspire change. I’d love for readers to be inspired by Ishaani’s determination and never-give-up attitude.

Interviewer: Lastly, can you share a bit about your writing process? How do you approach the creation of a new novel?

Kran Sanon: I always start with the characters. I want to understand them, their motivations, fears, and dreams. Once I have a good grasp of them, I work on the plot. I like to have a rough outline, but I also allow for organic development as the story unfolds. I believe that keeping an open mind allows the characters and the narrative to evolve naturally, which often leads to surprising and exciting turns in the story.

Interviewer: Thank you for your insights, Kran. It’s been a pleasure talking to you and getting a glimpse of your creative process. Best of luck with “All of the Stars” and your future projects!

Kran Sanon: Thank you! It’s been a pleasure to be here and talk about “All of the Stars.” I’m excited for readers to dive into Jaimie and Ishaani’s story, and I hope they find it as rewarding to read as it was for me to write.
